Babylon
- March 14-June 2, 2008
For the first time
assembling works from all over the world, this exhibition seeks to reconcile
Babylon’s history with its legend. It explores the various stages in the
foundation of the ancient city and the extent of its influence, as well as the
way in which the Babylonian myth grew out of its historical reality.

Every
winter, a large ice-rink is created outside the Hôtel de Ville to delight
Parisians and tourists alike. Skating is the perfect way to stir up some
festive spirit and it is FREE.
The
building itself is a notable landmark, acting as the seat for the Mayor of
Paris. In the immediate area you will find safe diverse districts: the
beautiful Place des Vosges, the Marais and the Jewish quarter round the Rue
des Rosiers are all within walking distance.

Benjamine
Franklin - An American in Paris
Dec 5 2007 - March 9, 2008
Paris' Musée Carnavalet
explores the life of Benjamin Franklin over the period
of time he spent in the French capital (1776-1785).
The exhibition, which brings together some 340
paintings, sculptures and documents, concentrates on the
American's political and scientific influences on the
city, and seeks to define the process by which he came
to stand as a symbol of republican values and defender
of human rights. (closed Mondays)

The Festival of the Imagination, devoted to the music and cultural styles of
peoples across the globe, is held at Paris' Maison des Cultures du Monde.
Louise
Bourgeois Exhibition - Feb 27 to June
2, 2008 - Center Georges Pompidou. Louise Bourgeois was born in 1911
in Paris and in 1938 imigrated to the US. As an artist and sculptor,
her work is deeply involved in the investigation of her own psyche and
relation to objects through strong intuition. It is difficult to
directly link her work to other artists because she is extremely original in
much of her work.

important winter event on the French Riviera.

16 Feb 2008 - 02 Mar 2008. Highlights include colorful daily events
such as flower parades, traditional float processions and fireworks
displays. It is fun for all the family, but the celebrations often continue
late into the night with theatre, live bands and DJ sets.
Music flows from every street corner and huge papier mâché characters with
giant heads parade through the city centre - some on floats, some dancing
with the crowds on the streets.

tambourin are instruments that symbolise the musical spirit of
Provence. This festival in Aix-en-Provence gathers people passionate

Easter
Feria (Bullfights) - Arles - March 2008
The Easter Feria in the Arena opens the bullfighting season in Arles and
attracts 500,000 visitors, of which 60,000 buy seats for the fights. During the
event the show also takes to the streets of the old city, where aficionados can
continue their evening over a glass of sangria at one of the 30 bodegas.
