Description
The
entire
Loire Valley is rich with
meandering streams, majestic oaks, quiet roads, and lush green
countryside. Its royal châteaux and pastoral villages grace the
waterways and walking
paths.
Since
1996 YOUR FRENCH CONNEXION owners, Henri et Nancyhelen have
personally inspected 162 hotels, B and B's and many Inns and
Chateaus which receive guests. We have four Michelin starred
Hotel-Restaurants that we highly recommend from the 8 available.
With
easy access from Paris, you will love the breathtaking
architectural masterpieces, accommodations from delightful to
sumptuous and activities that suit your own style and pleasure.
Enjoy
the excitement of great
food and wine as well as sports and leisure activities that make
this an ideal spot for an unforgettable holiday.
Walk
the picturesque cobblestone streets and let us help you with
self-guided day tours to many points of interest.
For
those without a car we have bike trails, local train trips and city
walks available.
The
patchwork fields, cool forests and lazy rivers of the Loire Valley
invite the active vacationers to walk, cycle, windsurf, sail and
canoe in the gentle countryside.
Tennis players and golfers will find
first-rate facilities throughout the region. Visitors can drift
leisurely over the châteaux and countryside in a hot air balloon or
enjoy the spectacular sights from while floating along on a
houseboat or barge on the lower Loire.
Fairs,
festivals, pageants and concerts fill the Loire calendar from spring
to autumn. Sound and light productions at Amboise, Chenonceau, Blois,
Valençay and Assay-le-Rideau bring royal chateau history and
tradition to life each summer.
Accommodations range from weekly rental
manor houses to modern farms, private homes and one star to five
star hotels for your pleasure. We recommend only the best we have
inspected. You will enjoy the families who host your stay as much as
we have enjoyed staying with them over the years.

In
the heart of the Loire Valley at the palace of Amboise
they offer a spectacle of sounds, lights, pyrotechnic,
costumes, equestrian plays, music and Renaissance dances.

Cuisine
Freshwater fish
such as salmon, perch and trout are regional favorites. Mushrooms
from the local caves and wild duck, pheasant, hare, boar, deer and
quail are also classics.
Goat cheeses or chèvre such as the Crottin
de Chavignol, Valençay, Pouligny-Saint Pierre, Sainte-Maure and
Selles-sur-Cher are a particular specialty of the region.
The
famous French upside-down apple pie known as the "tarte
tatin" also comes from the Loire Valley.
Loire Valley
wines are earthy. Try the fresh Sancerre, and both the outstanding
white and the lesser-known reds. Chinon, a growing in quality
region, as well as the lightly sparkling Vouvray are good choices.
YOUR FRENCH CONNEXION has vineyards to visit for
tasting and
buying.
