Description
Just
across the Channel from London, less than three hours to Paris, Normandy
welcomes visitors with its varied coastline and rich countryside.
North American and Allied visitors recall D-Day and delight in
the love and joy the French feel for the Liberation of June 1944.
Normandy
gets its name from the 10th-century Norman Vikings that settled the
country. In 1066 the famous Norman Duke, William, defeated the Saxon
King Harold in the Battle of Hastings, was crowned King of England
and became known as William the Conqueror. For many centuries after
the descendants of his Norman army governed England, creating much
of the Anglo-Saxon heritage.
Your
French Connexion has inspected numerous places that await the
American, Canadian and other allied tourist with real joy and
generations of thanks. You will
wish to visit exhibitions, sites, and monuments, and the Caen
Memorial Museum, which commemorate operations that took place
between June 6th and August 25th of 1944.
Normandy
with historical capital, Rouen, has been linked to many famous names
such as Thomas and Pierre Corneille, Gustave Flaubert and Joan of
Arc. Caen, the capital of Lower Normandy, is known as home to
William the Conqueror and has some of the best "high-tech"
businesses in France.
The
charming harbor of Honfleur is but one of hundreds of seaside towns
worth visiting. In Bayeux view the world famous Bayeaux Tapestry
which chronicles the exploits of William the Conqueror as well as
Claude Monet's gardens in Giverny and Mont Saint-Michel with its
breathtaking views from the ramparts, are just a few of the joys of
Normandy. Let us help you find the idea place to stay as you tour
this, one of our favorite parts of France, especially from May to
